1999. LARRY HUDSON was the last Camporee Chief of this century and the host for the 40th anniversary
of the Camporee. As the longest running event in the South Florida Council, almost 80,000 Scouts have attended the
Camporee this century. His theme of "Celebrate Scouting" gave the scouts freedom to express the concept of celebration
in many different ways. The Camporee added expanded field activities, provided live music, introduced the Chili Cook-off
competition for the adult scouters and updated many of the events. Good weather was plentiful for the more than 2,000
attendees.
